Brodie White of Tumby Bay competed in SAPSASA Cricket. Brodie
reported, "We won all of our games and then got beaten in the
grand final, so we came second overall." |

Emma Foreman of Port Lincoln also travelled to Tamworth for the
State Country Hockey. Emma wrote, "the experience of representing
my state and playing at that high level was fantastic and one I
will never forget." |

Hayley Richards competed in State County Hockey in Tamworth.
Hayley wrote, "Being the youngest on the team it was a beneficial
experience for me which I have learnt more about the game at such
a high level." Hayley is pictured right in a match against
the Australian Defence Force. |

Samuel Bail competed in School Sport Australia Hockey
Championships in Newcastle. Sam wrote, "It was a great experience
to play in that level of hockey. It was really challenging and I
was able to learn a lot more about hockey and develop my
hockey skills". |

Jacob Tiller (far left) competed in Motocross State Title Championships.
Jacob did a terrific job by finishing overall in 7th place in the
state. Jacob said, "I was very happy to have achieved this and and
I am so glad to have had this experience."
Zac Bradbery (left) also competed in the State Titles. Overall in
the state Zac placed 3rd which is a magnificent effort. Zac said,
"I did not finish one round due to injury so I am happy with my
achievement." |

Chloe Meyers competed in Gymnastics Country Championships in
Adelaide. "I came 1st on Vault, 3rd on Floor and 4th overall,
which I was very pleased with", said Chloe.
Chelsea Dunn competed in the same Championship. "The other girls I
competed against get up to 20 hours of training per week whilst I
only get 5 hours at the most" said Chelsea. She received two 1st's
with an overall score of 4th. |

Isabelle McQuillan also competed in SAPSASA Hockey. Isabelle said
she had a great time playing hockey and learnt lots of new skills. |

Jesse Malone competed in SAPSASA Hockey. This is what Jesse had to
say - "My team and I worked very well as a team and we played 11
games and there were all fun". |

Todd Hoffrichter of Ceduna competed in SAPSASA Football with the
Western Eyre Peninsula team. Todd said, "It was my first time
playing football in Adelaide and I had lots of fun". |

Demi & Kodi Mundy competed in South Australian Country
Championships in Adelaide. Demi competed at level 5 state stream
in Women Artistic Gymnastics on 4 apparatuses - floor, vault, bars
and beam. She placed 3rd overall. Kodi received a bronze medal on
bars and a silver medal on beam. She was awarded a 3rd overall
trophy. Congratulations to both. |

Ryder Thomas of Port Lincoln recently participated in the
SAPSASA Football competition.
Unfortunately they did not win, but the boys played very well and
thoroughly enjoyed their stay in Adelaide.

Bodie Henderson of Port Lincoln has just returned from Japan
representing South Australia in the 11th International
Pee Wee Ice Hockey Tournament in Hachinohe from 28 April to 4th
May. The SA team became the first Western country to be in the top
four in the history of the tournament. |

Mitch
Henderson of Port Lincoln recently participated in the Oceania and
Asia Pacific Inline Hockey Championships in Perth. Mitch who
represented Australia for the forth time was a member of the 16 U
team. They won four of their five games.
Mitch (pictured in green) played
right wing and defence and contributed to the score board on more
than one occasion. |

Brooke Traeger of Port Lincoln competed in SAPSASA swimming. As
well as having an enjoyable time, Brooke placed a 1st in 50m
Freestyle, 2nd in 4x50m Relay Freestyle and 3rd in 50m Butterfly.

Kathleen Klassman received recognition for being nominated in RAA
leaders driving force category at the the Young Achiever Award.
Kathleen said, "I had a fantastic night, it was very inspiring for
me to see other young people pursuing their dreams and making a
difference." Kathleen is pictured with fellow Port Lincoln YAC
member Abby. |

Carly Redman travelled to Adelaide with the Lower Eyre Peninsula
SAPSASA Softball Team. Carly said, "we walked away with the shield
for the second year in a row after beating City South in our last
game to decide the winner". Pictured left is Carly going for the
catch. |

Glen Dunning travelled to Alice Springs to take part in a UP2U
Tennis Camp and Tournament. Glen said he received
excellent tennis coaching and has noticed the improvement in his
tennis skills since being home. |

Again Cleve Area School went to
Murray Bridge for the annual Pedal Prix from the 17th-20th
of September.
Overall the year 11’s bike Silver Bullet, come 93 out of 230 other
bikes and 34 in our category.
Some of the students found it hard staying up for 24hours but
a minor breakdown helped them to stay awake and were out of the race
for about an hour.
The weekend was a great experience and a huge success; we would
like to thank Liz Penfold and the Flinders Ports Youth Travel Grant
program for
helping with our travel costs.

Joseph Ingram of Tumby Bay competed
in the Balaklava Eisteddfod. Joseph did a fantastic job receiving
1st in the Junior Speech and Drama section, 2nd in Senior Piano
and 3rd in Intermediate Piano. Joesph wrote, "the talent in this
year's Eisteddfod was amazing, and I am honoured to be one of the
prize winners.". |

Gretel
Anderson
of Ceduna competed in
Eyre Peninsula Pony Club Zone Eliminations.
Gretel said, "This
was the first time that I had ever competed with my horse & I was
really pleased at how well we did. The only bad thing about the
weekend was the terrible weather – we had never seen so much rain
& for a horse that lives in Ceduna".
Gretel will compete in
South Australian Pony Club State Championships
later this
year. |

Sid Masters of Wharminda, Jay Green of Kapinnie and Izaac Boylan
of Wudinna proudly represented SA in SAPSASA State Cricket in
Darwin. At the closing ceremony SA were awarded with Bronze
medallions. The boys
had played a vital part, not only batting and bowling but doing a
great job in the field, Izaac taking 4 catches and effecting a run
out, Sid with a catch and runout, Jay with a catch, and all three
stopping many runs. |

Mitch Henderson (pictured right) of Port Lincoln recently
travelled to Philadelphia USA as a member of the 2008 Junior
Australian Touring Team for Inline Hockey. The International and
Elite divisions attracted teams from all over America, Great
Britain and Mexico. |

Jake Haarsma of Cummins recently
travelled to Adelaide for SAPSASA Football with the Lower Eyre
Peninsula team. "We had a great week with the
team of which I was captain and we
played in Division 1 with 3 wins. Thank you for my Flinders
Ports Youth Travel Grant which my helped with the cost of going
to Adelaide to play football"

Tamara Barker (No.6) and some friends from Port Lincoln travelled
to Adelaide recently to compete in the SA Basketball Country
championships. Tamara had a great time and made new friendships
and enjoyed the experience. Tamara says 'Thank you very much for
your support to sport on Eyre Peninsula' |

South Australia Lone Scouts enjoyed their annual camp. Some
highlights of the trip included a visit to the Adelaide Zoo and
the use of the giant flying fox at Woodhouse. They are pictured at
the closing ceremony of the camp. |

Emily Dreckow attended the State Girl Guides Camp to Hindmarsh
Island. The camp marked 100 years since Lord Baden Powell (Founder
of the Scouting Movement) held his first camp there. Emily wrote -
'I had a wonderful time, one I will never forget.'
Emily is pictured on "Back to Basics" night where she had to make
her own tent and cook her own food. |

Wudinna Area School entered 2 teams of 8 into the
International
Pedal Prix. The girls’ bike was called Extreme Eyre and the boys’
bike was called Granite Growla.
The boys’
team completed 336 laps, which equalled 719 kilometres. Their
average speed was 31.3 km/h.
They crossed the finish line in 7th place for the Under 16
category and 29th overall out of 225 bikes.
The girls’ team completed 287 laps, which equalled 614 kilometres.
Their average speed was 26.7 km/h. The girls came in 2nd
overall female team to attain a podium finish and 27th
in the mixed boys and girls. |
