Become a certified Ambulance
officer without leaving your home town
Regional SA Ambulance offices are offering a regional
sponsored degree program to people who want to work in the
Ambulance industry, which will allow country people to work as
ambulance officers while they complete their Certificate 4 in
Emergency Services. This course combined with the work they do
for Ambulance SA will give students credit into their first year
of a three year university degree, part time through Flinders
University, while still working in a country location. The
course is aimed primarily at existing SA Ambulance volunteers to
keep people in regional areas. For more information contact your
local SA Ambulance branch or Flinders Univeristy. |

Rex Pilot Cadet
Scheme 2007
Regional Express (Rex) announced that it is launching a cadet
scheme in Australia for aspiring pilots who would like the
opportunity to fly with a regional airline. All selected cadets
would be given a loan of 50 percent of the cost of training
estimated to be $80,000. This is repayable for up to seven years
in a repayment schedule that links the repayment to the prevailing
salary so that the burden is reduced in the initial years. Some of
the higher achievers will be given scholarships that could cover
up to the remaining 50 percent of the training costs. These
scholarship cadets will have to commit to staying with Rex for six
years

South Australian
Government Youth Traineeship Scheme
Are you between 17 and 24 years of age and looking for an opportunity
to enter the Public Sector through a traineeship?
All trainees are employed by State Government Agencies for a period of
12 months within the South Australian Public Sector while they
undertake a nationally recognised entry-level traineeship.
While most of these traineeships are administration, some industry areas which you can get into are Child Care,
Construction and Maintenance, Tourism and Horticulture.
My office has hosted 11 clerical trainees over the years from
communities such as Elliston, Cleve and Port Lincoln
and Tumby Bay. I believe this is a
fantastic opportunity for young people to gain TAFE accredited skills
and on the job experience at the same time. All of our trainee’s have
secured employment once completing their traineeships.
Traineeships are advertised on the government notice of vacancy

Are you thinking about a career in medicine?
Commonwealth Funding currently requires university medical
schools to have at least 25 % of the medical students to be of
rural background. Universities are not meeting this target. A
study is being undertaken which will identify which personal,
familiar, educational or administrative factors enhance the
likelihood of a rural student to apply for medicine, called the
“Year 12- Medical Intention Project- SGRHS”. If you would like
to have your say, be it your thoughts or personal experience,
please put it in writing and or fax it to 86 484 223 or email
it to
