The project will be undertaken in partnership with the Streaky Bay District Council and other Government Departments. Mrs Penfold said ecologically sustainable development involves using, conserving and enhancing the community’s resources so that the ecological processes upon which life depends are maintained, and total quality of life now and in the future can be increased. She said the approved projects will give sites the opportunity to achieve ongoing efficiencies in the use of energy, water and other utilities, thereby enabling sites to make savings in the costs of these resources. She said the criteria against which the Department of Education, Training and Employment assessed proposals were student involvement, community involvement and contributions, and estimated financial outcomes. “It is exciting that three schools on Eyre Peninsula have put forward proposals that have been accepted in this program,” Mrs Penfold said. |
