Dignity for Disabled Rally
16 September 2005

Liz Penfold joined several hundred people on the steps of parliament house this week at a “Walk in my shoes” rally organised by the Dignity for the Disabled lobby group.

Protest organiser David Holst spoke to the large crowd urging the government to recognise the funding shortfall in the disability sector.

Protesters were urged to bring along an old pair of shoes to lay on the steps of parliament house symbolising the difficulties families and carers of the disabled have on a daily basis.

Shadow Minister for Disability Isabel Redmond also addressed the crowd.
