NEW BUILDING FOR CUMMINS MEMORIAL RECREATION CENTRE
12th June 2002

Sporting bodies using Cummins Memorial Recreation Centre now have a multipurpose building for administration, storage and scorers.

The shed was built with a $14,000 grant from the Community Recreation and Sports Facilities Grants Scheme towards the overall cost of the project.

Member for Flinders Liz Penfold congratulated everyone on the improvements that have been made in the town in recent years, mentioning in particular the gardens, the bank and the caravan park.

“If something is doing well or going right it is because of the people involved,” she said.

“The kind of people who are proactive and who get things done.”

She said this augured well for the future of the Cummins community, particularly the sporting community.

“I believe that per capita, we achieve more in our region than any other region of the state, and that comes back to a community spirit of encouragement and participation.

“Congratulations to those who took the time to apply for the grant, those who raised the additional funds and to those who organised the construction,” she said.
