Ceduna Keys Marina Development
19 December 2003

Member for Flinders Liz Penfold said she is delighted with the announcement that the Ceduna Keys Development is set to become a reality with the signing of an agreement with Ceduna Marina Development Company Pty Ltd headed by David Kelsey.

“This development combines aquaculture, housing and tourism – three of the growing industries across the state – in a form that will be an exciting new direction for the region.”

Coastal areas throughout Australia have become attractive for people looking for their ‘sea change’ otherwise known as the Sigrid Thornton factor based on the highly successful ABC television series.

“Ceduna fits this category perfectly,” she said.

Mrs Penfold said Ceduna had the prospect of one day challenging Port Lincoln as the biggest centre on Eyre Peninsula not only because of developments such as the marina but also because of it’s situation on the Eyre Highway that enables it to capture the through traffic and tourist dollars and access to the Great Australian Bight and the surrounding islands.

She congratulated David Kelsey for his vision and the Ceduna District Council for it’s positive outlook and proactive method of working.

“I commend the Council’s effort and planning of this milestone and wish them and the community of Ceduna another great and proactive year in 2004”.
