BUDGET 2001-02
SPORTS GRANTS Member for Flinders Liz Penfold welcomed the extra $17 million over three years for recreation and sport from the State Government’s 2001 Budget. The new funding comes on top of the current $10 million per annum. Mrs Penfold said the funding will build on existing recreational sport programs the Government has already put in place to encourage South Australians to be healthy and active. “Current figures show that if Australians become 10% more healthy, the community’s health bill will drop $600 million a year,” she said. Mrs Penfold said the details of how and where to apply would be advertised when they become available. “I encourage recreational and sporting clubs to apply for grants, including the Active Club Grants of which applications for the next round open around October,” she said. |
