ART / MUSIC

Arts Facilities and Equipment
This grant supports the establishment and improvement of arts and cultural heritage facilities. The program has three funding
categories: capital improvements, equipment purchases and feasibility studies.

Richard Llewellyn Arts & Disability Trust
This fund has been set up to recognise and foster the artistic talents of people with disabilities and to help them further their artistic careers. Organisations can apply for up to $20,000 and individuals can apply for up to $10,000 in grants. Previous projects funded included theatre, music, craft, design , visual arts, literature, dance, new media and community and cultural arts. Regional Events & Festivals Program
The South Australian Tourism Commission provides financial and marketing support to organisations conducting tourism events that are capable of generating an increase in visitor activity in South Australia and which lift the profile of its tourism regions within and beyond the State. The Regional Events and Festivals Program has been established to support marketing and promotional activities but not to fund budget shortfalls.  Support is available to new, expanding and one-off events with significant tourism or promotional value. Cultural facilities and equipment
Supports the establishment and improvement of arts and cultural facilities; purchase of equipment to improve, establish or convert premises for arts and cultural activities; and purchase of equipment that enhances arts and cultural practice. Ring Ian Fergusson 08 8463 5442 for more details.

Ian Potter Cultural Trust Grants 
Up to $7000 available to encourage diversity and excellence of emerging artists practicing in a wide range of disciplines within the arts.
Music Commissions-
Established Composer- $80,000 for the creation of s substantial body, or portfolio work over two years.
Emerging Composer- $20,000 for the creation of a portfolio of work over two years.
Applicants are to send a concise 2-3 page letter requesting a grant.

Augusta Zadow Scholarships

Australian Rural & Remote Health Professionals Scholarship (ARRHPS) Scheme
Financial scholarships to assist in undertaking a range of continuing professionals education activities,
eligible undergraduate and graduate entry studies leading to clinical practice; professional development activities including conferences, short courses and formal postgraduate study; and clinical placements

Aged Care Nursing Scholarship Scheme: Postgraduate
This scholarship is an Australian Government initiative aimed at increasing the skills of registered/division 1 nurses and enrolled nurses working in the aged care sector particularly in rural and regional Australia. The study
undertaken must be directly relevant to nursing employment in aged care. Scholarships are valued at up to $15,000 a year for Registered/Division 1 nurses studying for their Masters and up to $10,000 a year to assist both Registered/Division 1 nurses and Enrolled Nurses working in aged care facilities to undertake further education. Aged Care Nursing Scholarship Scheme: Undergraduate
The Aged Care Nursing Scholarship Scheme is an Australian Government initiative aimed at encouraging more people to enter aged care nursing, particularly in regional, rural and remote Australia. The Scheme provides financial assistance of up to $5,000 per semester, to a maximum of $30,000 per applicant, to assist in meeting costs incurred while studying undergraduate nursing. Country Teaching Scholarships for University Graduates
Providing scholars with up to $2500 annually over four years to support their study costs with a guaranteed job in a country school.

Diana Rudd Fellowship
Grants of up to $7,500 available to a Palliative Care Nurse so that he or she can make an international or interstate trip to further his or her knowledge and or skills in the area of palliative care. General Employee Entitlements and Redundancy Scheme (GEERS)
General Employee Entitlements and Redundancy Scheme (GEERS) is a basic payment scheme established to assist employees who have lost their employment due to the liquidation or bankruptcy of their employer and who are owed certain employee entitlements. GEERS covers capped unpaid wages, annual and long service leave, capped payment in lieu of notice and capped redundancy pay. Market Access Program Grants (MAP)
Are you considering starting or expanding an exporting business in South Australia? MAP provides newly formed or growing export businesses with funding to help promote products and services overseas. Can be used for expenses incurred for overseas promotion of your products and services, expenses incurred for export activities within Australia, such as hosting international delegations, domestic travel and accommodation for buyers and increasing your export capabilities through training, self-education and marketing. Applications are considered quarterly in a year – 15 March, 15 June, 15 September and 15 December. New Incentives for Country Teachers
Scholarships are being offered to university students who are studying to become high school teachers. The Country Teaching Practicum Scholarship provides up to $1250 to support transport and living costs for those who want to teach in a country area in South Australia.

OHSW Small Grant Programme
Funding of up to $50,000 will be provided for initiatives which will contribute to improved safety outcomes at work. The grants will fund projects that will contribute to the reduction of work-related injuries, diseases and fatalities in South Australia. SA Rural Health Undergraduate Scholarship
These Scholarships provide $5000 per annum paid in two payments of $2500 for up to 3 years study to applicants studying an undergraduate degree, who want to gain employment in a rural health unit. To be eligible for these scholarships students must agree to live and work in a rural area of South Australia, on the successful completion of their degree. Opens October 2009. South Australia Innovation & Investment Fund - Industry Development Program
This grant program has total funding of $30 million contributed by the Australian and South Australian Governments. The program is seeking investment proposals that will create new or additional business capacity designed to deliver sustainable new jobs in South Australia, with a focus on the southern suburbs in Adelaide. Small Business Development Grant
This competitive, merit-based grant is available on a dollar for dollar matching basis. Its key aims are to:

  • target established, small and medium sized manufacturing and services (ICT, technical, educational and scientific) businesses with a sound, clearly identified investment opportunity.
  • enhance economic growth, employment and business development in Southern Adelaide.

Applications will be accepted if the project involves capital expenditure of a minimum of $200,000 and new job creation in the Southern Adelaide region. Projects with a bias toward innovation and the introduction of new technology will be given priority. Closes 31st August 2009. Workplace Modifications Scheme
There is help available to pay for the cost of workplace adjustments or solutions needed to accommodate a worker with disability in a job. The scheme pays for the costs involved in modifying the workplace or purchasing special or adaptive equipment for eligible employees with disability. CARS

LPG conversions for Australian cars
The Australian Government has established the LPG Vehicle Scheme to assist private motorists with the purchase of a factory-fitted dedicated LPG vehicle or an approved retrofit of an LPG system to a suitable new or used petrol or diesel vehicle.
The scheme is designed to encourage the uptake and use of LPG as an alternative fuel.
* Please note there are some changes effective from July 2009 (as follows). The LPG Vehicle Scheme provides a grant of : $2000 for an approved and fitted LPG conversion of a new vehicle, $2000 for a new vehicle  fitted with LPG before first registration, or between $1,000 and $1750 for a conversion on a vehicle already registered.  Amounts vary according to dates purchased. ABB Grain Community Fund
Grants are provided to education and training, health, youth development and community amenity projects which have a positive impact of the communities involved. All grants are chosen through a selection committee and distributed twice yearly.

Anti-Violence Community Education Grant
South Australians will be empowered to help prevent violence through a series of State Government grants. Up to $100,000 will be available over the next two years. The Anti-Violence Community Education Grants offer organisations the chance to receive up to $10,000 non-recurrent funding towards an anti-violence education project. ANZ/FRRR Seeds of Renewal Program.
Seeds of Renewal is a small grants program providing funding to small, rural not-for-profit organisations for projects and activities to aid the growth of their community. Open to non for profit organisations and towns with a population of less than 15,000 -

Australia Foundation Grants
The Australia Foundation is an "umbrella" trust, which encompasses a number of other trusts established with specific aims. The Foundation lets you demonstrate your commitment to society by creating a perpetual charitable trust in the name of your organisation.

Limited funding is available each year. Preference is given to organisations/projects involving a health and community services aspect. Funding is not limited to the metropolitan areas; rural/regional organisations/projects will also be considered for funding. You must be a charitable organisation with both income tax exemption and deductible gift recipient status.

Bank SA Sponsorship
Bank SA allocates funds annually to support smaller sponsorships and one off projects. Sponsorship proposals involving a substantial financial commitment should be submitted before May 31
each year to allow for sufficient lead-time to consider the request in the context of budget planning. BankSA’s financial year is October – September. When reviewing sponsorship requests, BankSA applies the same rigorous assessment criteria to all proposals received. BHP Corporate Community Program
The BHP Billiton Corporate Community Program manages a key group of partnerships with Australian and International community and environment not-for-profit organisations. In addition to the key partnerships, a small number of national projects from not-for-profit organisations in Australia are selected for support each year. These projects generally fall in the range of AUS$50,000 - AUS$200,000 although a longer-term project could receive this amount annually for up to three years.

Club One Grants for Community & Sporting Organisations 
Small Grants- $650.00 grants (totalling $18,000 for the year)
Large Grants- $ amounts as requested, (totalling $120,000 per year)
These funding totals will rise each year as Club One grows. 
To apply for grants applicants must write a letter to Club One seeking support and the Executive Officer then follows up on each grant and makes a recommendation to the Board. 
All Clubs can apply for these grants, not just Club One members.

Community Benefit SA

Community Benefit SA is a State Government program in South Australia which allocates up to $4 million per year to the community for one off projects that assist non government community service agencies to improve the well being, quality of life, community participation and life management skills of disadvantaged individuals, families and communities. Community Project Grant Fund
The Community Project Grant Fund finances community group initiatives that benefit Housing SA customers and the general community. Grants are a one-off payment of up to $2000. Conditions apply. There are four funding rounds each year, approx every 3 months- Feb, May, Aug, Nov. Community Support Grants
$500,000 has been made available for community projects that will contribute to building the resilience and spirit of rural communities.
Grants of up to $5000 are available for group activities that will support rural communities in areas affected by drought conditions.

Community Domains Trust

The aim of auCD is to provide support services to communities who want to register their geographic domain name for a community website  portal and process applications based on policy and guidelines for the purpose of preserving Australian geographic names for use by the relevant local community.

From now until 31st December 2009 .auCD (Community Domains Trust) are offering to any qualifying community free licensing of their 'Community Site in a Boxs' (CSIAB) an "off the shelf" community website automated site builder. This off the shelf community website software package gives communities who wish to build their own community websites a cost free alternative - which also includes hosting of their webite.

Comic Relief Australia Grants
Open to non for profit organisations that have DGR status and are utilising volunteers. Cummins District Community Grants Program
Charitable and not-for-profit organisations can apply for projects and activities that offer clear public benefit for communities. Contributing to their development in building social capital, community welfare, environmental, health, education or cultural areas including projects that support: families, children and youth initiatives,  public health programs and services, community capacity building projects, public education, including tertiary education, school building and libraries, innovative community services, cultural and arts initiatives, aged care service disability service and  environmental projects. The Danks Trust Grants
Purpose:
To provide funding to charitable organisations in Australia for the support of projects that fit the categories of religion, education or the relief of poverty (broadly interpreted). Disbursement of funds occurs twice yearly. Trustees meet in February & August each year. The trust do not issue formal application forms but request written submissions are on organisation letterhead.

Helping Hands

Up to $50,000 available to benefit people in rural and remote Australia.
Non for profit organsations can apply for projects and activities that offer clear public benefit for communities living in small rural and remote locations, contributing to their development in social and community welfare, economic, environmental, health, educational or cultural needs. Communities with population of $10,000 or less will receive preference. Organisations demonstrating community partnerships will receive preference.
Preference will be given to projects that support: Community Infrastructure, Capacity or building, Health or Community Services, Access to Education or Training, Innovative Business Ventures, Environment.

The Ian Potter Foundation
The Ian Potter Foundation provides grants for public charitable purposes in Australia in the areas of:

The Macquarie Foundation Grants
Funding available to community organisations in the areas of education, arts, health, research, welfare, health care and environment that have Deductible Gift Recipient Status. Go to

Morialta Trust- Expressions of interest open February 2009.
Morialta offers yearly distributions to PUBLIC BENEVOLENT INSTITUTIONS who assist disadvantaged children and young people. Distributions of up to $60,000 are offered for really innovative projects which will have a significant impact on the welfare of disadvantaged children and young people. Provide the Trust with a brief summary of the project (expression of interest) and an up to date endorsement of the applying organisations (downloaded from the website www.abr.business.gov.au) by 20th March. A detailed application form will then be provided to those applicants whose projects are of most interest to the Trust.

Optus Connecting Communities Grants Program
Optus is encouraging not-for-profit organisations and Optus employees nationally to apply for grants of up to $5,000 to reduce social isolation and reconnect disengaged youth in the community. Disengaged Youth – are adolescents and young adults (up to the age of 25) who have become disengaged from society due to lack of education, skills training and employment opportunities; homelessness; substance abuse; and poverty. Social Isolation – encompasses social, physical, emotional and geographic isolation. Grant applications should demonstrate how projects will promote and enhance social inclusion such as building social networks, increasing participation in community or family life, or providing access to services such as health and education.

Peter Brock Foundation
The Peter Brock Foundation is a significant contributor to the community providing assistance to various organisations and worthwhile causes.
Funding areas are:

-Social Issues, e.g. programs that deal with drug addicts and their families
-Community Programs, e.g. particularly those that emphasise a growing understanding of self-reliance and responsibility.

Places for People Grants
To assist local governments in developing and implementing place based improvement strategies and projects. Aims to improve the quality and function of important community places. No maximum limit on funds. `Premier’s Community Initiatives Fund’
Grants of up to $10,000 to non-profit charitable South Australian organisations that offer direct services and support to excluded, disabled or socially isolated members of the community. The objective of the Fund is to assist such organisations undertake a one off project that will benefit the community. SGIC communityhelp Grant
Through communityhelp, SGIC provide grants of $500 up to $5000 to groups committed to reducing the risk in the areas of crime prevention, road safety, emergency readiness and response and environment. Small Grants for Small Rural Communities Program
A small grants program for small rural Australian communities will offer about $300,000 a year in grants to benefit people in rural and remote communities. This collaborative approach is designed to:

Social Enterprise Incentive Grants

Zero Waste SA has developed the Social Enterprise Incentive Grants program because community-based organisations play an important part in collecting materials for recycling or re-use, are often small-scale, or often do not qualify for assistance based on their viability or profit performance. Not for profit organisations can fall into this category as do a number of very small enterprises, especially those that work at the higher end of the waste hierarchy (avoid, reduce, reuse). REACH - Rural Early Childhood Program

The Rural Early Childhood Program is a source of funds up to $20,000 for not for profit community groups in rural and remote Australia that offer early childhood services. Community groups such as community based pre-schools or kindergartens, not for profit long day or occasional care centres, playgroups, neighbourhood houses and toy libraries can apply. Items such as outdoor equipment, educational resources, interior/exterior refurbishment and heating/cooling can be funded. Regional Partnerships Program
Grants of $25,000 and less or between $25,000 and $250,000 available for projects that focus on strengthening growth and opportunities, improving access to services, supporting planning, assisting in structural adjustment. For more details go to www.regionalpartnerships.gov.au

RIRDC Rural Women's Award
The RIRDC Rural Women's Award celebrates rural women and their contribution to primary industries. It gives rural women the chance to discover their strengths and build their capacity to contribute to primary industries and rural Australia.

The 2009 Award provides a Bursary of $10,000 for each State and Territory winner to support them in developing their leadership capacity and the opportunity for the winner and runner-up in each State and Territory to attend the Australian Institute of Company Director's course. A national RIRDC Rural Women's Award Winner and Runner-Up is then selected to represent the Award, RIRDC and rural women on a national platform.

Rural Town Development Fund
The Department of Trade and Economic Development will administer $2 million in grants over four years to help councils, businesses and communities initiate ‘iconic’ projects that enhance the social and economic fabric of local communities. Telstra Foundation - Social Innovation Grants

This grant
invests in big ideas that use information and communication technologies to engage and connect Australia's children and young people (0-24 years) to their communities. Grant applications must demonstrate the ways in which the project will build the number and nature of networks and social ties, increase participation in community or family life, or improve access to basic human entitlements such as health and education for Australian children and young people. Telstra's Kids Fund

Community Connection Leadership Grants
. A grant of $1,000 will be made as a donation to the community organisation where the Telstra employee is a board member or part of the committee of management.

The Community Connection Program supports a broad range of not-for-profit community groups including choirs, sports clubs, food vans, local neighbourhood houses, respite care groups and home visit groups.

The United Way Annual

The United Way Annual Grant provides funding to assist, encourage and/or develop local community projects, to support the work of community groups and to foster their positive participation and contribution to local communities.

Funding is provided under two categories:
1. Category A - provides grants of up to $15,000 to assist organisations in any area of their operations (excluding salaries), including equipment, training packages, rent or capital.
2. Category B - provides grants of up to $1,500 to assist community groups in any area of their operations (excluding salaries, rent, capital and training).

Woolworths Fresh Food Kids Community Grants Program

Grants of up to $5000 are available to local community groups for projects that help primary school aged children lead healthier lives. These grants can be used for sporting equipment, playground facilities or healthy snacks. Women Leading Change
The Women Leading Change (WLC) grants round offers support to stage events that will build the leadership and representative capacity of women in primary industries—to strengthen primary industry productivity and build rural, regional and remote community resilience to a changing climate. Funding of up to $50,000 for eligible events available and will require either a cash and/or in-kind contribution from successful applicants. COUNCILS
Port Lincoln City Council - Community Funding Assistance
Council invites community groups and individuals to apply for funding through the Community Funding Assistance scheme under the following eligible categories:

  • Community Events
  • Comunity Development
  • Youth Development
  • Volunteers

Two rounds of applications will be made available each year namely in September and March.Forms are available from the council office, upstairs of the Civic Centre or www.portlincoln.sa.gov.au .

Outback Areas Community Grants
The Outback Areas Community Development Trust offers grants, loans and subsidies to outback communities in South Australia. The Trust contributes to locally-conceived projects that will benefit the whole community. These are usually subsidised on a $1 for $1 basis but the subsidy rate can vary up to $3 for $1 where vital water supply, medical support and airstrip works are involved. Usually, but not always, the projects are identified by the communities.

The Trust also offers Annual Operating Grants to assist communities with administration and other recurrent costs. The level of grant is based on community numbers and the Trust's assessment of the degree of involvement of each organisation in community facilities services and activities.

In some circumstances the Trust will fund loans to communities, usually as 'bridging finance', for major capital works with the principal repayments becoming part of the local contribution. These loans are usually made for periods of three years or less with interest charged at current Treasury interest rates. The Trust may also assist some communities receive radio and television services (provided to the Trust's area via satellite) through subsidies on the costs of local rebroadcasting systems.

Wudinna Council Community and Economic Development Grants
Each year, the Council sets aside a specified sum of money for a 'Community & Economic Development Grants' program. Under the program:

  • Businesses, individuals and companies can also apply for assistance towards projects where job and economic growth can be demonstrated.

CRIME PREVENTION

Crime Prevention and Community Safety Grants Program
Funding
up to $50,000 (min $10,000) is available for projects to better equip communities to address local crime and safety issues. Eligible organisations include groups such as not-for-profit incorporated foundations, service clubs, sporting bodies, Indigenous groups, ethnic communities, church groups, youth organisations, local government associations and other sections of the general community. Regional councils and not for profit organisations are encouraged to apply.

This year a two-stage process is being implemented. Organisations are requested to complete an expression of interest form. Shortlisted applicants will then be invited to submit a full application. Expressions of Interest close 4 September, 2009.

Premier’s Community Initiatives Fund’
Grants of up to $10,000 to non-profit charitable South Australian organisations that offer direct services and support to excluded, disabled or socially isolated members of the community. Richard Llewellyn Arts & Disability Trust
This fund has been set up to recognise and foster the artistic talents of people with disabilities and to help them further their artistic careers. Last year, projects funded included theatre, music, craft, design , visual arts, literature, dance, new media and community and cultural arts.   • The Community Infrastructure Grant: Rural communities can apply for funds for community building, infrastructure and maintenance projects, further guaranteeing farming communities not merely survive, but get back on the road to recovery

$500,000 has been made available for community projects that will contribute to building the resilience and spirit of rural communities.

Connellan Airways Trust Grants
• To promote and encourage the advancement of knowledge of people, especially younger people, living in remote parts of that area of outback Australia formerly served by Connellan Airways, and in other parts of Australia similar in remoteness.
• To assist such people through facilitating air travel and the delivery of education needs, communication requisites and health related supplies.
• To foster education of people in outback Australia, other than those living in its remote parts, who provide service or assistance to people living in those parts.

Exceptional Circumstances
What support is available?
Under Exceptional Circumstances (EC) assistance the following support is available to eligible farmers and small businesses in declared EC regions. Primary producers and small businesses should not self-assess their eligibility for EC support.
Interest Rate Subsidies

  • Business support through the Exceptional Circumstances Interest Rate Subsidy (ECIRS) program for farm businesses [or small businesses that derive at least 70% or their normal turnover from providing goods and services for farm businesses located in the EC declared area] that are considered to be viable in the long-term, but for the exceptional circumstances are experiencing financial difficulties
  • EC Interest Rate Subsidies are delivered through the State and Territory Governments with 90 per cent of the cost of this EC component is met by the Australian Government with State and Territory governments contributing 10 per cent.

FarmReady Industry Grant
Funding of up to $80,000 each financial year is available for projects which increase industry self reliance and preparedness to adapt to climate change. You should outline how your proposal will provide skills, knowledge or strategies to help your industry and its members address climate change issues.

FarmReady Reimbursement Grant

FarmReady Reimbursement Grants assist primary producers and Indigenous land managers to attend approved training courses. Eligible participants can receive up to $1500 each financial year to cover the cost of approved training activities, with additional support available for associated expenses such as excess travel, accommodation and childcare. Grants for Grain Travel
If you have a yearning for travel and if you can use it to benefit the Australian grains industry, then consider applying for a Grains Research and Development Corporation (GRDC) Travel Award. Individuals and small groups to apply.  Applications are assessed twice a year.  The closing date for applications are
Friday 26 February 2010 (for travel between July 2010 and January 2011) and Friday 27 August 2010 (for travel between January 2011 and June 2011).

Grants for Sheep Farmers
Up to 40 grants of $1000 each are available for Eyre Peninsula sheep producers as part of the regions Woolworths Drought Fund Project. The project aims to help farmers look after their land and livestock during the drought. For more information call EPNRM on 8682 7555.

Men's Health Community Grants
Purpose:
To plan, implement and evaluate a community based health promotion project, to raise health awareness in men in the local community.
Examples of items that may be funded include:
Costs associated with community consultation and/or education
Seminar and workshop costs including catering and guest speakers
Audiovisual or printed resource development costs
Promotion expenses including advertising costs
Travel costs to reach rural men
Administration costs directly related to the project
Examples:
The following list of project examples is by no means exhaustive. Foundation 49 encourages innovative project proposals, ideally in collaboration with other organisations, and for projects to have a comprehensive approach to education.
Run a men's health information evening emphasising the importance of regular health checks to maximise health.
Develop a men's health resource for the local community, such as services available for men in the local area.
Providing evening or Saturday sessions at a clinic for men's health checks.
Organise a father and son, or family cricket or football match for the local community, and provide a men's health information booth and healthy lunch.
Hosting a dad's day at a local kindergarten or playgroup on a Saturday, with a healthy lunch or morning tea, and men's health resources.

Peter Olsen Fellowship
The Peter Olsen Fellowship is a $7000 agricultural fellowship that aims to boost the on-farm skills and knowledge of South Australia’s young farmers. One farmer aged between 18 and 35 receives the bursary each year, with the funds to be used for further study, study tours or special projects. Recognising Women Farmers (RWF) Grant

Rex Airlines
Regional Express will provide more drought aid for affected-communities as low rainfall in several parts of Australia continues one of Australia’s worst droughts. Rex would provide $1 million in travel on its services for the FY2007/08. This is a co-operative effort and Rex will contribute $4.00 in air travel on Rex services for every $1.00 contributed by eligible community organisations. The fund will be administered by the community organisation but must be used for air travel on Rex for an activity associated with providing relief or assistance from the impact of the drought. Rural Education Program (REP)
 
REP seeks to ensure that quality education remains accessible to children in rural and remote communities regardless of climatic and economic conditions. The beneficiaries of grants should be preschool, primary or secondary students. Grants may range from $100 to $25,000. Funding can be used on material aid for books, equipment, accommodation and clothing, projects that help redress any educational disadvantage caused by remoteness of students or individual students where, without financial assistance, their education is likely to be severely disrupted.

Rural Women’s Community Grant
A small grants fund has been created for women in drought affected communities. Women in Agriculture and Business (WAB) will be providing the rural Women’s Community Grants 2009 to support the health and well-being of women affected by the current drought in South Australia. 

There will be three funding rounds in 2009. The Rural Women’s Community grants 2009 provide organisations with an opportunity to receive small grants of up to $1000 towards a community project that will build resilience within the community and support the continued work of local organisations. The first funding round closes 28 February 2009. The second funding round closes 30 June 2009. The third funding round closes 31 October 2009

Science and Innovation Awards
The 2009 Science and Innovation Awards for Young People in Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry—coordinated by the Bureau of Rural Sciences (BRS)
are open to Australians aged 18-35 who work or study in primary industries. South Australians with innovative ideas that will boost Australia’s rural industries can apply for up to $50,000 under a national awards program. There are 13 award categories up for grabs: animal welfare, dairy, eggs, emerging and niche rural industries, fisheries and aquaculture, forestry, grains, horticulture, meat and livestock, pork, processed meat, sugar and viticulture and oenology. Bendigo Bank Scholarship
Up to $25,000 available to provide support to selected students who otherwise, due to particular social or financial circumstances would not have been able to undertake tertiary education

Cowan Trust Grants
Purpose: To help young adults who have a severe vision impairment, reside in the state of South Australia and who would otherwise find finance a restriction on their ability to undertake tertiary studies.

Purpose:

Don Hawke Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship aims to support young people
from a rural or isolated background who have recently completed a secondary qualification and who have gained valuable life experience outside of school. Each scholarship will be valued at a maximum of $25,000 per annum, for the life of the recipient's program (up to 5 years), and will cover fees, accommodation, living and any other expenses relating to the program of study. Junior Landcare Grants Program

The program targets major issues relevant to our natural environment including water quality/conservation, waste reduction/recycling, school gardens and biodiversity.

Schools Program

Parents Initiative in Education (PIE) Grants
Opens for applications beginning of Term 3
Preschools, schools, children and students all benefit from the strong involvement of parents in programs, activities and decision-making.The Parent Initiatives in Education (PIE) program has demonstrated over a number of years that support grants make a significant contribution in assisting parents at the local level to become involved in decision making in their preschool and school communities. The funding is made available for parents to develop new initiatives in their schools and preschools to encourage the involvement and participation of parents.  Emphasis is placed on programs that encourage greater participation of parents previously not well represented in school and preschool decision making forums.  Such groups include parents/caregivers of Aboriginal students, transient students, students from low socio-economic backgrounds, students from multicultural backgrounds, and students with disabilities and/or learning difficulties.

Parent groups in schools and pre schools apply for a grant by completing an application form that is forwarded to schools through Info Connect at the beginning of term 3 each year. Sites have approximately a term to complete applications and forward them to DECS.  Go to

REACH - Rural Early Childhood Program

The Rural Early Childhood Program is a source of funds up to $20,000 for not for profit community groups in rural and remote Australia that offer early childhood services. Community groups such as community based pre-schools or kindergartens, not for profit long day or occasional care centres, playgroups, neighbourhood houses and toy libraries can apply. Items such as outdoor equipment, educational resources, interior/exterior refurbishment and heating/cooling can be funded. Rural Education
Program (REP)
REP seeks to ensure that quality education remains accessible to children in rural and remote communities regardless of climatic and economic conditions. The beneficiaries of grants should be preschool, primary or secondary students. Grants may range from $100 to $25,000. Funding can be used on material aid for books, equipment, accommodation and clothing, projects that help redress any educational disadvantage caused by remoteness of students or individual students where, without financial assistance, their education is likely to be severely disrupted.

Schools First
Schools First is a new initiative that is about improving outcomes for young people. Schools First Awards Applications are open to all schools within Australia.  There are two types of Schools First Awards: Impact Awards and Seed Funding Awards
Impact Awards:
The Impact Awards are for those school–community partnerships that can demonstrate improved student outcomes as a result of their partnership. There are up to 60 local awards of $50,000 each and eight State/Territory Awards of $100,000 each.
Seed Funding Award:
The Seed Funding Awards are for those schools that are either in the process of setting up a partnership or in the early stages of the partnership and are seeking funding to help the partnership develop further. There will be up to 20 Awards with a value of up to $25,000 each.

Telstra Foundation Social Innovation Grants

EMERGENCY SERVICES

National Emergency Volunteer Support Fund
The 2008/09 grants will focus on emergency management volunteers. Funding under this grant is available to eligible organisations at the frontline of emergency management to carry out projects that contribute to attracting new volunteer recruits, encouraging current volunteers to continue to serve and to enable training activities to be conducted. Due to the flood and fire emergencies currently facing most states and territories, the closing date for applications for funding through the NEVSF in 2009/10 has been extended to 31 March 2009. From the financial year 2010-2011, funding for new projects supporting emergency management volunteers will only be available under the Disaster Resilience Program (DRP). The NEVSF ceases on 30 June 2010 and no further applications under that program will be accepted.

SGIC communityhelp Grant
Through communityhelp, SGIC provide grants of $500 up to $5000 to groups committed to reducing the risk in the areas of crime prevention, road safety, emergency readiness and response and environment. Australian Government Photovoltaic Rebate Programme
The Photovoltaic Rebate Programme provides cash rebates for the installation of solar photovoltaic systems on homes, schools and community use buildings.

A solar electric system is different to a solar water heater.   

Solar PV systems use sunlight to generate electricity for your domestic use, and store excess electricity in batteries for later use or feed into the electricity grid to reduce your electricity bill.  Residential photovoltaic systems are eligible to receive a rebate of $8 per peak watt of output up to a maximum of $8,000.

The South Australian Solar Hot Water Rebate Scheme provides for rebates up to $700 on the cost of a new solar hot water system purchased and installed in South Australia that complies with the programme’s guidelines.  The criteria have been set to encourage the replacement of electric water heaters with solar hot water heats.  Full details available at

The Australian Government is helping Australian households install greenhouse friendly hot water technologies. Rebates of $1000 are available in eligible circumstances to install solar and heat pump hot water systems. To be eligible for the rebate, a hot water system must: replace an electric storage hot water system; be purchased and installed after 17 July 2007; be a solar or heat pump hot water system that is eligible for at least 20 Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) at the time of purchase at the installation address; be verified by a Registered Agent; be installed by a qualified electrician or plumber; and have a warranty of at least five years. The Pratt/ FRRR Grants
The Pratt foundation has donated funds to FRRR to address the fundamental issue of water supply, its availability, distribution and where necessary, desalination. Australia Post Landcare Community Development Grants
Community groups, including local landcare groups across Australia, can now apply for yearly grants of up to $3,300 (including GST) to help improve their local community and environment, through the Australia Post Landcare Community Development Grants Program. The grants can fulfill a community groups’ “wish list” and directly fund a community project, help buy much needed tools and equipment, or help raise awareness and encourage more community members to get involved. The flexibility in the allocation of funds aims to help groups in their ability to grow within the community. Expected to open March and August 2009.

BHP Corporate Community Program
The BHP Billiton Corporate Community Program manages a key group of partnerships with Australian and International community and environment not-for-profit organisations. In addition to the key partnerships, a small number of national projects from not-for-profit organisations in Australia are selected for support each year. These projects generally fall in the range of AUS$50,000 - AUS$200,000 although a longer-term project could receive this amount annually for up to three years.

Caring for our Country - Community Action Grants
Eligible community groups can apply for grants from $5,000 to $20,000 (GST exclusive) to take action to help protect and conserve Australia's environment.
Eligible projects must involve volunteers and communities in activities which work towards achieving outcomes in the Caring for our Country national priority areas of Biodiversity and Natural Icons, Coastal Environments and Critical Aquatic Habitats, and Sustainable Farm Practices and be completed within 18 months or less. National Landcare Program - Sustainable Practices
NLP Sustainable Practices will fund larger scale, strategic on-ground activities that allow for participation by Landcare and industry groups with the capacity to undertake larger projects. The priority for funding through NLP Sustainable Practices investment is on-ground activities that:
significantly increase the uptake of sustainable production and other NRM practices;
support landcare group and primary production activities which contribute to NLP outcomes;
enhance the knowledge and skills of natural resource managers;
promote implementation of best management practices; and
improve integration of NRM into management practices at the enterprise level.

NLP Sustainable Practices investments must be matched, at least dollar for dollar.

Rebates of Household Rainwater Tanks & Greywater Systems

he Australian Government is offering rebates of up to $500 to households for either:

  • The purchase and installation of a new rainwater tank which is connected for internal reuse of the water for toilet and/or laundry use; or

Social Enterprise Incentive Grants
Zero Waste SA has developed the Social Enterprise Incentive Grants program because community-based organisations play an important part in collecting materials for recycling or re-use, are often small-scale, or often do not qualify for assistance based on their viability or profit performance. Not for profit organisations can fall into this category as do a number of very small enterprises, especially those that work at the higher end of the waste hierarchy (avoid, reduce, reuse). State Natural Resources Management Program

Grants of up to $10,000 are available for eligible community groups under the new grants scheme. Funding can be used for a variety of natural resources management activities, such as watercourse fencing, sustainable farm practices and pest control. Threatened Species Network Community Grants Program
Managed by the Threatened Species Network (TSN), the grants program was established to support and inspire communities to conduct on-ground work for the ongoing health of our natural environment, specifically targeting the needs of nationally threatened species and ecological communities.
Funding is provided for activities such as:
-Habitat restoration
-Weeding and feral animal control
-Monitoring and surveying species populations
-Fencing
-Fire management

The TSN Grants will not be offered in 2009. WWF is currently awaiting news from the Australian Government regarding new threatened species funding.

Wildlife Conservation Fund Grants
The Fund grants money annually for conservation and research projects concerned with South Australia’s biodiversity. Funding for individual projects will be capped at $20,000. Applicants need not possess formal qualifications and applications from individuals, groups or societies are welcomed. The 2009/10 round of funding opens 15 September 2009 and closes 15 October 2009.

Regional Food Producers Innovation and Productivity Program (RFPIPP)
The four-year, $35 million RFPIPP aims to boost the productivity and competitiveness of Australia’s regional food and seafood industries through innovation and technology improvements. Under the program, matched-funding grants, generally between $50,000 and $2 million, are available for food and seafood businesses to undertake projects based around one or more of the following activities:

-the design and implementation of new technologies, production or processing techniques
-the adoption of food production or processing technologies developed overseas
-the innovative redesign of existing production/processing lines to improve efficiencies and productivity

COAG Healthy Communities Initiative - National Program Grants
The Department of Health and Ageing is seeking Expressions of Interest from not-for-profit organisations to deliver proven and sustainable community-based programs aimed at improving adults' physical activity levels¸ healthy eating behaviours and/or weight.

The aim of the National Program Grants is to help organisations that have demonstrated success in delivering community-based healthy lifestyle programs in at least two locations to expand their program nationally¸ including to the majority of the areas receiving the Healthy Communities Initiative Local Government Areas Grants funding that wish to access the program. Men's Health Community Grants
Purpose:
To plan, implement and evaluate a community based health promotion project, to raise health awareness in men in the local community. Examples of items that may be funded include:
Costs associated with community consultation and/or education
Seminar and workshop costs including catering and guest speakers
Audiovisual or printed resource development costs
Promotion expenses including advertising costs
Travel costs to reach rural men
Administration costs directly related to the project

Examples: The following list of project examples is by no means exhaustive. Foundation 49 encourages innovative project proposals, ideally in collaboration with other organisations, and for projects to have a comprehensive approach to education.
Run a men's health information evening emphasising the importance of regular health checks to maximise health.
Develop a men's health resource for the local community, such as services available for men in the local area.
Providing evening or Saturday sessions at a clinic for men's health checks.
Organise a father and son, or family cricket or football match for the local community, and provide a men's health information booth and healthy lunch.
Hosting a dad's day at a local kindergarten or playgroup on a Saturday, with a healthy lunch or morning tea, and men's health resources.

Pink Pony Seeding Grants
Provides funding to community groups, volunteer organisations and health providers to implement community-based initiatives that support women with breast cancer in rural, regional and remote locations in Australia. Information on applications for 2009/2010 will be available in March 2010.

Pink Pony Scholarships
Scholarships are available to nurses and community health workers in rural, regional and remote Australia. These scholarships provide applicants with opportunities to expand their skills in caring for local women with breast cancer; for example conference attendance, further study and clinical placements. Information on how to apply for the next round of scholarships will be available on 28 September 2009 on their website.

Organisations interested in receiving funding to provide after hours GP services are invited to apply for grants under the Australian Government’s General Practice After Hours (GPAH) Program. Commemoration of Historic Events and Famous Persons (CHEFP)
This grant program is designed to commemorate people, events and places of national historical significance. It is a modest program with many projects receiving around $5 000 each.
Eligible projects may include: The conservation of graves of people of national historic significance; and The construction and conservation of monuments, plaques and statues that commemorate people, events and places of national historical significance. Community Heritage Grants
The Community Heritage Grants (CHG) Program aims to preserve and provide access to locally held, nationally significant cultural heritage collections across Australia. Parenting SA Grants
Children, Youth and Women's Health Service through Parenting SA assists parents in their important role by providing opportunities to improve their knowledge, skills and confidence. One-off grants up to $4000 will be provided to groups of parents, community organisations and voluntary agencies to develop activities and resources to improve the quality of parenting.

`Premier’s Community Initiatives Fund’

Active Club Grants
The Active Club Program provides financial assistance to South Australian not for profit community-based active recreation and sporting organisations to develop and expand the services they provide, thereby increasing the community's access to quality active recreation and sport activities and facilities.
The program has three types of grants:
1. Programs and Equipment -100% of project cost up to $10,000
2. Facility - 50% of project costs up to $20,000
3.Youth at Risk
- 100% of project costs up to $10,000

Australian Sports Foundation - Sport Incentive Program
The Australian Sports Foundation (ASF) operates the Sport Incentive Program. Specifically the program aims to increase opportunities for Australians to:

  • participate in sport, and/or
  • excel in sports performance.

Eligible organisations can apply to register sport related projects in either of the following categories under the program:

  • category 1 – to collect donations using the ASF's tax deductible status and to receive consideration for discretionary grants from the ASF, OR
  • category 2 – to receive consideration for a discretionary grant from the ASF.

An organisation can only register under one category at any given time. Projects must meet certain project criteria. Visit http://www.asf.org.au/how .

Club One Grants for Community & Sporting Organisations
 
Small Grants- $650.00 grants (totalling $18,000 for the year)
Large Grants- $ amounts as requested, (totalling $120,000 per year)
These funding totals will rise each year as Club One grows. 
To apply for grants applicants must write a letter to Club One seeking support and the Executive Officer then follows up on each grant and makes a recommendation to the Board. 
All Clubs can apply for these grants, not just Club One members.

Community Recreation & Sport Facilities Program
This program provides funding for the development of new or existing sport or active recreation facilities. Grants up to 50% of the total project cost and for school-based projects up to 30% of the total project cost are available. Funding from $20,000 to $300,000. Confederation of Australian Motor Sport (CAMS) Club Funding Program
T
he National Club Development Committee (NCDC) has allocated $55,000 for distribution to CAMS affiliated clubs across Australia, with up to $5,000 available to any club that satisfies the application criteria. Funding is available to implement programs aimed at stimulating membership growth, particularly those aimed at engaging youth through a structured youth development program and people with disabilities, women and from a culturally and linguistically diverse communities. Country Athlete Award Scheme

The scheme aims to assist junior athletes from rural areas to achieve their sporting potential. The financial assistance provided is to enable the athlete to access training and competition programs. The Elite Indigenous Travel and Accommodation Assistance Program (EITAAP)
Indigenous sportspeople who are involved in mainstream official national championships and international sporting competitions can apply for financial assistance through EITAAP. Funding is available for travel and accommodation expenses up to $1500 per person for national events and $4000 per person for international events during a financial year. Indigenous sportspeople including athletes, coaches, managers, officials and trainers can apply if they meet a certain criteria.

Indigenous Sport and Recreation Program
This program provides funding to community groups, organisations and the Australian Sports Commission to increase and encourage the active participation of Indigenous Australians in sport and physical recreation activities. This can include sport and physical recreation activities (eg: football), carnivals, competitions and training camps. Items that can be included in funding are venue hire, sports equipment, uniforms and registration fees. Closes on 26th February 2010.

IRIS grants (Inclusive Recreation Inclusive Sport Program)
To assist not for profit community based organisations to provide additional active recreation sport and physical activity opportunities for people with a disability.

Local Sporting Champions Program
The Local Sporting Champions program is an Australian Government initiative designed to provide financial assistance for junior sportsmen and women towards the cost of travel, accommodation, uniforms or equipment when competing at an official national sporting organisation (NSO) endorsed state or national sporting competition. Must be between 12 years
and 18 years of age at the time of the nominated competition and be required to travel greater than 250km return to participate in the nominated NSO endorsed state or national sporting competition, or national school sport competition. McDonalds Get Active Sports Awards

Move It! Making Communities Active
Up to $50,000 available for projects that encourage people to be active.

SASI Individual Talented Athlete Awards

This Award Program offers financial assistance to talented junior athletes to assist them progress to the senior elite level. There are four categories:

Sportscover Sponsorship Fund
Grants of up to $1,000 to provide funding for grass roots sporting organisations. There are four rounds each year. Sport Leadership Grants for Women
The program is aimed at providing women with an opportunity to undertake sport leadership training. The program provides successful applicants with a one-off grant of up to $5000 for individuals (applications must be through an incorporated organisation) and up to $10 000 for incorporated organisations.
The grants are available in five key areas:
-high performance coaching and officiating
-Indigenous women
-women in disability sport
-women from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds
-women in general sport leadership.

Statewide Enhancement Program (StEP)
This funding is available under 2 streams:
-Stream 1 (State Organisation Support Funding)
State sport, active recreation and industry representative peak bodies can apply for funding to support the delivery of core programs and services.

-Stream 2 (Sport & Active Recreation Project Funding)
State sport, active recreation organisations, industry representative bodies and other eligible organisation are invited to apply for funding for projects that increase community participation in sport and active recreation; improve quality of programs and services available and support the development of talented/elite athletes.

Telstra Assistance Fund

The Telstra Assistance Fund provides financial assistance to junior grade and community sporting clubs across Australia, to allow them to purchase new equipment. Current applications close June 14 2009.

Wendy Ey Memorial Coaching Scholarships for Women

The scholarships aim to encourage and assist female coaches throughout South Australia to achieve success in their chosen sport. Scholarships up to $10,000 for women coaches to further their career or financial assistance of up to $1000 for professional development, education costs or furthering accreditation levels are available. TOURISM / FESTIVALS

Festivals Australia
Festivals Australia is an Australian Government program which funds Australian regional and community festivals to assist them to present quality cultural projects. Activities that are eligible for funding are those that have not been previously presented and that could not be afforded without the funding.
There are two funding rounds a year. They are advertised nationally, with closing dates of 15 February for projects starting after 1 July and 15 July for projects starting after 1 January.

Regional Events & Festivals Program
The South Australian Tourism Commission provides financial and marketing support to organisations conducting tourism events that are capable of generating an increase in visitor activity in South Australia and which lift the profile of its tourism regions within and beyond the State. The Regional Events and Festivals Program has been established to support marketing and promotional activities but not to fund budget shortfalls.  Support is available to new, expanding and one-off events with significant tourism or promotional value. TQUAL Grants
The objective of TQUAL Grants is to stimulate sustainable growth in the Australian tourism industry. It will do this by supporting initiatives that:
• develop innovative product, services or systems within the tourism industry
• contribute directly to long-term economic development in the host region
• develop or support high quality visitor services and experiences.
It offers grants, exclusive of GST, for eligible projects—ranging from $5,000 to $500,000—in three categories:
• Category 1: Innovative tourism projects—grants range from $5,000 to $100,000.
• Category 2: Integrated tourism development projects—grants range from $100,000 to $500,000
• Category 3: National or sectoral tourism initiatives—grants range from $25,000 to $500,000.

ANZAC Day Commemoration Fund
Grants of up to $8,000 will be available to support a range of initiatives that focus on educating the community about the significance of ANZAC Day and commemorating our nation's military heritage. South Australian ex-service organisations, local government authority, community groups, special interest groups, schools and educational institutions are all eligible to apply.

Building Excellence in Support and Training (BEST) Program
BEST is to support the role of ex-service organisations' (ESO) pensions and welfare practitioners and advocates. The BEST program assists by providing monetary support and IT equipment to ESO practitioners.
BEST funding can provide assistance for:
- salary costs for full or part time practitioners by ESOs
- salary costs for full or part time administrative support staff
- computer equipment used to assist ESO practitioners and
- consumables, running costs and other general costs relating to the lodgement of claims and appeals.

Saluting Their Service
The Saluting Their Service commemorations grants program supports projects and activities that directly commemorate Australia’s servicemen and women who served in wars, conflicts and peace operations and to promote appreciation and understanding of the role that those who have served have played in shaping the nation.

Projects must be directly commemorative of Australia’s servicemen and women involved in wars, conflicts and peace operations to be eligible for funding under the Saluting Their Service commemorations grants program. Project can include restoration of Australian wartime memorabilia for public display, publishing unit wartime histories, where none exists, significant unit reunions (eg 40th or 65th) and commemorative plaques and honour boards for public display.

Veteran & Community Grants
Two Categories of funding: 0-$5,000 and $5,000+
These grants aim to maintain and improve the independence and quality of life of members of the veteran community by providing financial assistance for activities, services and projects that sustain and/or enhance well being.
There are three funding rounds each year and applications must be lodged with the relevant DVA State Office. Applicants should contact their DVA State Office to discuss any project proposal before completing an application and for information about closing dates for each round. Vietnam Veterans' Children Support Program
The Vietnam Veterans' Children Support Program (VVCSP) assists eligible children of Vietnam Veterans who have spina bifida manifesta, cleft lip, cleft palate, adrenal gland cancer or acute myeloid leukaemia with financial assistance for out-of-pocket expenses for treatment-related benefits for these conditions. Community Webs Program - Free Website Development
The Office for Volunteers has partnered the UniSA School of Communication, Information and New Media (Magill Campus) in an innovative program that provides volunteer- involving community organisations with access to the development of a free website. Once the website is complete it is hosted free of charge for twelve months. Throughout this twelve month period on-line support and mentoring is provided. Commonwealth Bank Staff Community Fund - Community Grants program

Bendigo and Adelaide Bank Scholarship
The Bendigo and Adelaide Bank Scholarship will be awarded to outstanding but disadvantaged students, usually from a rural or regional area, who have been offered a full-time place at an Australian university or college campus. The scholarship is intended to provide support to selected students who otherwise, due to particular social or financial circumstances, would not have been able to undertake tertiary education. There is no restriction in respect to the tertiary institution selected by scholarship applicants. * Launch Pad Grants:
This is a two stage grant to support community development initiatives designed and delivered locally by young people based on a partnership model.  Young people will work with a local community organisation to identify and prioritise local youth needs and develop an innovative and responsive initiative. The aim of Launch Pad grants is for young people an organisations to work together to develop and implement a creative idea that results in meaningful change with young people ages 12-25 years. * Partnership Grants:
Organisation working with young people aged 12-25 can apply for these grants, which must address a youth-identified "need" or "issue" within a community. 

* Robert Riley Scholarships:
These scholarships are available for indigenous young people wishing to pursue studies in law, human rights or juvenile justice. 

* Indigenous Small Grants:
Smaller grants will be made throughout the year for initiatives that work with indigenous young people. 

* The Brokerage Bank
Young people can apply for funds to deliver a community project.  Applicants must be between the ages of 18 and 24 and have completed, or be undertaking a Leadership Program. 

* Youth Led Futures
These grants are available to Indigenous communities and involve a youth-led process of identifying and issue or opportunity that could deliver positive community development. 

* Spark Fund
Provides funding support for young people aged 12-25 years to 'ignite an innovative idea' which makes a positive contribution to the community and enhances their skills and experiences. * Youth Change Makers

It will support individuals and small groups of young people who have identified an issue in their communities and have developed an advocacy response which aims to take action that creates a positive impact and/or change in relation to that issue. Youth Change Makers grants will support initiatives up to $10,000 per applicant group.

Country Athletes Scholarship Scheme
This scheme aims to assist junior athletes from rural areas to achieve their sporting potential. The financial assistance provided is to enable the athlete to access elite training and competition.  .Applicants should be aged between 14-18 years and must permanently reside 130km or more from the Adelaide GPO and must be current participants in;
- either – state or state country development squads
- and/or – state, national or international competitions
- and/or – be recommended by an accredited state coach or Development Officer.
This grant runs each year. Dame Roma Mitchell Trust Fund Grants
The Dame Roma Mitchell Trust Fund for Children and Young People offers $1,000 to $10,000 grants to children and young people who are, or have been, under the Guardianship of the Minister in South Australia. Grants are available for the purpose of:
- assisting a child or young person to achieve personal goals;
- contributing to their health and wellbeing; and/or
- providing professional development opportunities.

KiDS Can invites groups of children or young people (aged 5 -25) to submit a proposal for a Microgrant ranging from $250 -$1000. It will need to demonstrate that they will:

Enable kids to contribute to others within their community

Help build a positive sense of self and reliance in the kids involved

Assist kids learn social and emotional skills

Model supportive and respectful relationships

Local Sporting Champions Program
The Local Sporting Champions program is an Australian Government initiative designed to provide financial assistance for junior sportsmen and women towards the cost of travel, accommodation, uniforms or equipment when competing at an official national sporting organisation (NSO) endorsed state or national sporting competition. Must be between 12 years
and 18 years of age at the time of the nominated competition and be required to travel greater than 250km return to participate in the nominated NSO endorsed state or national sporting competition, or national school sport competition. Mitre 10 Junior Landcare Grants Program
The Mitre 10 Junior Landcare Grants Program provides funds for schools and youth groups across Australia wishing to participate in environmental projects. The program targets major issues relevant to the natural environment including:
- Energy
- Waste/Recycling
- Air
- Biodiversity
- Water
- Land


In addition to on-ground rehabilitation or restoration works, projects may also include conservation of natural resources, environmental monitoring programs, waste minimisation, using school grounds as learning centres or undertaking an environmental field trip.

Most project applications are expected to have a value of around $500. See the website for further information, including application forms.

Schools or organisations that would like to involve students in landcare projects, in conjunction with local landcare groups, are eligible to apply for funding.

Meyer Foundation - G4 Small Grants Program
The G4 Small Grants Program aims to be responsive to community needs and to support youth focussed initiatives and driven strategies across a range of areas. The priority areas for the G4 Small Grants Program include but are not limited to: capacity building for youth organisations, environmental education targeting and involving young people aged 12-25 years, youth-driven events and activities and initiatives addressing the health of young people. Applications submitted to the Small Grants Program are considered at four meetings during the year and are accepted in the lead up to specified closing dates. Next round closes 27th October 2009. Office for Youth – Youth Leadership Grants
Designed to promote and encourage the development and enhancement of a young person’s leadership skills. Young people can apply for up to $500 to undertake activities that promote and encourage the development or enhancement of their leadership skills. Grant available on monthly basis, applications close 15th of each month. St George Foundation
Provides financial support to charities throughout Australia to help them assist children and young people up to 18 years of age with special needs.The Foundation supports innovative projects that enable disadvantaged and disabled children to reach their potential.

Targeted Youth Grants
One-off grants between $10,000 and $50,000 are available for initiatives with a focus on young people at risk of engaging in or who are exiting from the criminal justice system, young people who are homeless or experiencing housing stress, young people who have disengaged from learning and work or building the capability of the youth sector to respond to vulnerable young people. Telstra Foundation Social Innovation Grants
Grant applications must demonstrate the ways in which the project will build the number and nature of networks and social ties, increase participation in community or family life, or improve access to basic human entitlements such as health and education for Australian children and young people. Up to seven projects will be funded through the Social Innovation Grants program in 2008/09. Grants from $75,000 per year for up to three years are available. No Round for 2009/2010

Telstra Community Development Fund
The Community Development Fund supports community-based projects that provide children and young people (0-24 years) with opportunities to reach their potential, enrich their social links and build their sense of belonging. The fund covers two programs – Social Innovation Grants and a Spotlight on Cyber Safety – each has the objective of connecting children and young people to their communities. The Telstra Foundation will announce its opening dates for 2009 on their website.
